Today for the second day we had `Team Vismaatjes` from Holland on board the Cavalier.
We sailed out an hour earlier this morning to increase the chance of a Wahoo to catch.
This early rise was fortunately rewarded and it was angler Michiel Quaars who took care of the catch of a beautiful Wahoo.
When after two hours the sun rose a bit and the temperatures started to rise, deeper water was chosen.
There was now fishing according to the Bait & Switch system.
In short, this method involves trolling with lures and the necessary teasers [bait].
As soon as a blue or white marlin is between the offered lure, this lure is quickly returned to the inside. turned, after which fresh bait is immediately put back.
This `bait & switch` disrupts the bait behavior of the fish in such a way, after which this usually results in a spectacular bite.
But the crew has to find the fish first.
At 12.30 our three anglers were startled by a loud cry from the fly-bridge.... Marlin, Marlin, Marrrrliiiiiiiiiin.
An estimated 300lbs Blue Marlin suddenly found itself among the lure on offer.
Very quickly, our visitor was now offered a fresh mackerel, which resulted in a beautiful bite, followed by a run many hundreds of meters.
Pim was now the only one without fish and was the last fisherman to use the fighting chair
It took him more than 45 minutes to fish his dream fish behind the boat, after which it could be released neatly and in good condition.
Fantastic guys, what a great fishing day.
We have one more fishing trip reserved for you tomorrow.
Who knows?
