350 KILO BLUE MARLIN RELEASED

This Tuesday has been for both boats a good fishing day.

On the CAVALIER we had this morning Jos van Loo back from Holland.
He started today on his 1st of 4 booked Charters.
Jos, who is still many years dreaming to catch a nice billfish, couldn't find his luck today.
With 3 fishing days left, fingers crossed for Jos!

A group of 7 Dutch fishermen was booked on the afternooon trip of the CAVALIER.
These anglers decide to go for the bottom fishing.
So captain Abraham and Hafid went with these clients to the Pasito Blaco reef.

They fished on a depth of 20 meters and they caught some nice rays.
The heaviest was caught by Bert Bosman from Holland, who landed a huge Roughtail.
Also a smaller Common Stingray was caught by Bert.
An Eagle Ray took the bait from the rod of Dirk Bac, followed by another Roughtail on the rod of Jaco van Bout.
Completed with catches from lots of smaller reeffish these Dutchmen enjoyed this fishing trip.

The clients on board of the EXPLORAMAR were this morning Phillip, his wife and daughter from England, together with his sister Deb and partner Andrea who live here in Gran Canaria.

These fishermen fished also last Sunday with us and lost during that trip 2 Blue Marlins.
Unfortunately, because captain Billy didn't find any billfish on this trip.
But also with catches of some good sized Skipjack Tunas, the boat went back to the harbour with all happy and satisfied anglers.

2 Norwegian and 7 Dutch anglers were booked on the afternoon trip on the EXPLORAMAR.
Robert Kleppevik from Bergen, Norway made after an half hour trolling directly a good start by catching a 5 kilo Skipjack Tuna.

At 17.30 spotted captain Billy some feeding birds.
When we were there, we hooked up with the `left short rigger`
It was a huge Blue Marlin which fish took more than 600 meter nylon from the screaming 80lb Shimano reel.

And it was again Robert Kleppevik who was the lucky fisher.
It was a very hard job for the 17 years old Robert and after 30 minutes the crew and Robert decide to share the rod with another angler.

It was Jacques Hoogweg from Holland.
Jacques caught his 1st Blue Marlin with us in 2003.
Jacques was 2 hours fighting with this monster and unfortuanately because also he had to give up.
The pain from a hennia operation, which he had 6 month ago, was to hard for him.

It were his friend Jordi van Eyk and Erik Vermeulen who finished after 4 hours and 5 minutes the fight with a very heavy Blue Marlin.

The weight of this Blue Marlin has been estimated by the crew at a weight of 350 kilo.

It happened not often that we have to share the fighting chair with 2 or more fishermen.

But who is happy to catch a dead marlin ????
The fish has been released.
Congratulations to all of you.

Our client Ed Huurdeman took from this marlin also a beautifull video.
This video I will publish as soon as possible on our website.
