4 White & 1 Blue

4 WHITE and 1 BLUE

Today it was definitely a bad day for heart patients.
The fishermen on the EXPLORAMAR had 3 times a contact, and 2 times they hooked in, with a billfish.

Yesterday I did some work on our website, so this morning I took a day off and went fishing with captain Billy.

I`m fishing still 25 years on Gran Canaria so I understand the ups and downs of the big game fishing, or maybe not ............?

At 10 a.m. we had our first contact with a White Marlin/Spearfish.
The fish took the lure from the left outrigger, but lost it again after a few seconds.
About 30 seconds later, the marlin came back on the starboard rigger and again she spit the hook out.
The third time the marlin came back on the center rigger.
Scott Thompson from England was the `lucky` fisherman, so he starts in the fighting chair.
Unfortunately, because after only 2 minutes Scott lost the fish.

I`m not sure if these 3 contacts where all the time from the same fish?
Because only 5 minutes later we saw 3 White Marlins/Spearfish behind the lures.
And again we had a small contact with one of them.

At 11.45 a.m we hooked in with a Blue Marlin.
It was again the rod from Scott Thomson.
This Blue took more than 200 meter line and.......................lost )-:)

So we had another exciting fishing trip and went back to the harbour without catching one fish.

Also on the CAVALIER the crew reported 2 contacts with billfish.

The only reason from all these missers can only be the very big schools of baitfish.
The last years, I haven't seen so a lot of baitfish in the water, so fingers crossed for tomorrow.
