Although bluefin tuna is an endangered species, the fish is still available on the market.
The fish is particularly popular in Japan, where they use the fish for sushi.
A 200-kilogram bluefin tuna produced a record amount of around € 26,000 during an auction in January 2007.
In July 2010, a more than twice as heavier one (445 kilogram) brought € 28,300.
Since then there have been different, much higher, record amounts paid for the fish.
In 2011, counted down € 300.000 for a tuna of 342 kilogram
In 2012 even € 570,000 for a 269 kilogram
In 2013 there is again a record amount paid for the tuna.
A bluefin tuna of 222 kilogram spent during an auction in Japan 155 million yen ( € 1.300.000 ).
